Apply Host Printer Finishing Options

The RPM Remote Print Manager's Text Queue allows RPM to adapt text to any Windows® printer using the print driver. RPM handles many text formats intelligently, while providing a simple interface.

The RPM Text Queue can apply any of the Windows fancy print driver's page finishing options to the print job including duplexing, stapling, hole punching, water marks, n-Up, offset, tray selection, paper type, collate copies, landscape, portrait, and much more. The formatting options found in the Text Queue are a key reason network administrators and other IT professionals make the switch from their existing print server to RPM.

Modify Print Jobs

Simply stated, any print job can be modified once using RPM, and from that point on, every time the print job is sent to RPM, it will route the job to the right printer at the right time with the right formatting options.

Furthermore, the destination printer, report formatting, and finishing function for any job are easily modified on the fly by the RPM administrator.

Protocol support

RPM supports the LPR/LPD protocol as documented in RFC 1179, and the widely practiced stream or reverse Telnet protocol. If your business system supports LPD, then RPM supports you!

Control Print Traffic, Print Quality

RPM expands printing capabilities

The Text Queue can apply any of the Windows fancy print driver's page finishing options to the print job. This includes duplexing, stapling, hole punching, water marks, n-Up, offset, tray selection, paper type, collate copies, landscape, portrait, and much more.RPM expands printing capabilities, giving users more control, formatting options, and file management advantages over a traditional network print server. For example:

  • Rather than sending ASCII text directly to a line printer, an output queue can be created on the host system to send print jobs via TCP/IP to the IP address of a computer loaded with RPM. This computer appears to the AS/400 as a regular network printer.

  • RPM intercepts any print jobs sent to the computer while at the same time allowing total control over specifications such as font size, number of lines printed per inch, and font type. These specifications allow print jobs such as greenbar reports to print on less costly cut-sheet paper with richer appearance.
