RPM easily removes PCL codesRPM Remote Print Manager can be set up to strip PCL codes from a print job. This is done automatically when text printing; but you can also select it for pass-through and filter printing. Removing PCL codes is useful when receiving print jobs from host systems that do not support your printer. ![]() RPM assists in printing PCL from a mainframe. For instance, the AS/400 does not support a print driver for a HP Deskjet 692c. When printing from an AS/400 to an HP Deskjet 692c, the AS/400 can be configured to print to an HP4, then RPM will strip the PCL codes in the data and format the data for the 692c using the Windows print driver. Example uses include:
Remove a Specific Number of BytesRPM has the ability to remove a specified number of bytes at the beginning of the data before spooling the print job to the printer. It can also help eliminate blank pages, and also to remove the global HP PCL codes. This feature can be used in conjunction with the INSERT feature to allow a different printer configuration than was originally in the file when using PASS-THROUGH PRINTING.
