Remove codes from your print job
Remove PCL codes
Strip PCL codes from a print job automatically with RPM Remote Print Manager®. Removing PCL codes is useful when receiving print jobs from host systems that do not support your printer.
RPM assists in printing PCL from a mainframe. For instance, the AS/400 does not support a print driver for a HP Deskjet 692c. When printing from an AS/400 to an HP Deskjet 692c, the AS400 can be configured to print to an HP4, then RPM will strip the PCL codes in the data and format the data for the 692c using the Windows print driver. Example uses include:
- Print data on a non-HP printer
- RPM will remove both PJL and PCL codes
- Capture data more easily for a spreadsheet or database application
Remove a Specific Number of Bytes
RPM has the ability to remove a specified number of bytes at the beginning of the data before spooling the print job to the printer. It can also help eliminate blank pages, and remove the global HP PCL codes. This feature can be used in conjunction with the INSERT FILE feature to allow a different printer configuration than was originally in the file when using PASS-THROUGH PRINTING.
