RPM's Technical Specifications
Print Features
Security
RPM can allow or restrict access based on host computer, IP address, domain name or sub-domain. Please read about LPD Vulnerability Issues.
- Prints to a Windows printer that is locally attached to your PC or connected to your PC over a local network. If Windows can print to it, RPM can print to it.
- Uses the standard Windows Print Setup dialog, and supports all the options provided by the printer driver, such as portrait vs. landscape orientation.
- Detects physical page size and orientation supported by your printer, and adjusts the margin settings automatically.
- Provides access to all fonts supported by your printer.
- Supports maximum columns per line and maximum lines per page.
- Can wrap lines, or truncate them.
- Can reduce font automatically to fit a given line width.
- Can interrupt a print job in progress in order to print later, restart on a different page, or cancel the job.
- Optionally converts line-feeds to carriage-return/line-feed to better accommodate DOS printers and applications.
- Specify lines per inch, and RPM will automatically reduce the font size, if necessary.
- RPM can modify your print data by removing bytes from the beginning, and by inserting or appending a file (or custom byte sequence) to the data.
- If RPM fails to print a job, RPM holds the print job for later printing.
- Print jobs can optionally be held, and will print when manually released.
Processing Features
- RPM text printing also supports overprinting (Bold).
- Handles multiple data files in a single print job.
- Provides the following types of queues for processing your print requests:
- Text queues to enhance your documents
- Pass-through queues to pass data directly to the printer (with optional data manipulation)
- Filter queues to run a local program on your document or archive print jobs to PC disk
- Can translate one character to another character.
- Can remove all PCL/PJL escape sequence.

- Tested with a variety of operating systems including mainframes, UNIX workstations, and AS/400 midrange systems.
